Photoshop Filters
I’ve never really seen the point in so many photoshop filters, but I finally found a cool use for the ‘glowing edges’ filter. I guess it’s not so much a use but a way of using the filter that isn’t tacky. I guess it’s your call on whether this is tacky or not. The first image is of two loons in Algonquin Park. The second image I used the ‘glowing edges’ filter which served to emphasize the loons in an artistic fashion that I thought was rather neat.

Where does wisdom come from?
Found in a book on Canadian diamond mining:
“Man puts an end to darkness, and searches every recess for ore in the darkness and the shadow of death. He breaks open a shaft away from people, in places where there is no foothold, and hangs suspended far from mankind. That earth from which bread comes is ravaged underground by fire. Down there, the rocks are set with sapphires, full of spangles of gold. Down there is a path unknown to birds of prey, unseen by the ey of any vulture; a path not trodden by the lordly beasts, where no lion ever walked. Man attacks its flinty sides, upturning mountains by their roots, driving tunnels through the rocks, on the watch for anything precious. He explores the sources of rivers, and brings to daylight secrets that were hidden. But tell me, where does wisdom come from? Where is understanding to be found?

Changing identity
For the first time ever I’m wearing a necklace. Darlene wanted to give me something to symbolize our engagement committment so she had a hemp necklace made for me. For the past few days I’ve been enjoying this new part of my identity. Having never spend much time at camp I was never a part of this common camp fad so now I’m reliving lost memories or experiences with my new necklace. It kind of fits my “style” is what I thought, whatever my ‘style’ may be. All in all it’s a neat new part of me and just in time for camping time of summer!
Announcement!
Well I’ve been kind of neglectful of my blog lately, but looks like nobody really noticed. Regardless, I want to announce here my exciting news. Darlene and are engaged!!! On Saturday I took Darlene out for a ‘birthday adventure’ that turned into an engagement surprise as we ended up in Algqonquin Park canoeing and having a picnic, complete with loons and even a moose! Darlene and I feel that this is an exciting step along our journey together and we look forward to getting married in early 2005.
No internet for a week!
If anybody has been wondering about the lack of entries on my weblog, there are a number of factors. The most primary is probably the fact that our house is still in the process of getting connected to the internet. As the saying goes ‘we’re supposed to be connected today’, but we said that yesterday and the day before. Secondly, the start of another school semester has meant madly running around campus getting into courses, dropping courses, getting papers signed, handing in a work report, arranging meetings with profs, hanging out with friends, getting settled in a new place and generally enjoying the first fruits of spring such as yesterday’s beautiful weather which topped 25 degrees!!! All in all it’s overwhelming to be back in the school atmosphere but exciting at the same time. I’m looking forward to a number of independent courses as well as courses on plants and wetlands! The environment is so amazing. God’s voice through nature should be heard more frequently.
